Florida police officers arrested a man after a video showed a truck driving into the ocean on a closed beach.
The Volusia Sheriff's Office said the man drove around closed gate marked "Do Not Enter" to get to New Smyrna Beach, south of Daytona Beach, on Tuesday morning.
According to an arrest affidavit for the incident, the beach was closed to vehicular traffic due to high tide, but the New York man explained to officers that he wanted to drive on the beach.
He was charged with entering the beach through unauthorized approach, according to the county court records. Police say this was because the fee for beach access with a vehicle was not paid. Officials said he was booked on a $200 bond, but jail records show he has been released.

Video shows man driving through waves up to his windows
The video posted on Facebook shows the white pickup truck driving parallel to the wave more than 10 feet back from the top of the tide. The tires are nearly completely submerged and water crashes over the hood of the truck as he drives along the beachline.
He makes it a ways down the beach in fits and starts, slowing down whenever a wave rocked the truck. Suddenly, he turns towards the shore and accelerates, before swinging the bed of his truck in what looks like an attempted donut. The bizarre scene ends as he drives straight into the waves.
Body camera footage of his interaction shows him laughing about the incident.
One Facebook user quipped in a comment, "training for the Florida man games on the 24th."
