Antonio Brown is, self-admittedly, "broke."
The former NFL wide receiver whose final years in the league involved all types of controversy filed for bankruptcy in Florida federal court last week, according to court records reviewed by the Florida Times-Union.
Brown also posted the news on his account "CTEESPN," a grotesque combination of the brain injury hundreds of NFL players have dealt with and ESPN.
According to the court filing, per the Times-Union, Brown owes $3 million to eight different creditors – including $1.2 million to the truck driver he assaulted in a 2020 incident. Brown claimed his current assets are worth less than $50,000 despite making more than $80 million during his playing career, per Spotrac.
Brown spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he made four straight All-Pro teams between 2014-17. But repeated legal issues marred the end of his career and his reputation.

In October 2018, he was sued for throwing furniture off a balcony that almost struck a toddler. He was cited for reckless driving a month later. The NFL investigated a domestic dispute involving Brown that took place during January 2019.
That summer, Brown's personal chef sued him, and his former personal trainer accused him in a lawsuit of sexually assaulting her. The Las Vegas Raiders had signed him to a $100 million contract but released him before he played in a game for them. The New England Patriots released him following one game and pressure stemming from the sexual assault lawsuit.
That didn't stop Brown from reuniting with Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers halfway through the 2020 season once his eight-game suspension was lifted. Brown went on to win Super Bowl 55 with the Buccaneers.
Brown made his final NFL appearance on Jan. 2, 2022; he took off his jersey and shoulder pads and exited the field in the middle of a game against the New York Jets.
